Cambridge Cyrenians approached Pro Bono Economics (PBE) with the aim of demonstrating the cost-benefit of our Older Homeless Service, which supports older residents as they move on from homelessness or to prevent them from becoming homeless, to prove the value of the intervention. By working closely with Cyrenians PBE were able to carry out an assessment of the Service. The study focusses on the data from the last 4 years of the programme, showing that it helps to reduce the social costs of homelessness through successful rehousing and prevention of evictions; in turn, both outputs help to mitigate negative effects such as poor health and increased crime.
